It was a pleasure to join veterans, representatives from the local Royal British Legion branches, and other local civic dignitaries for the raising of the Armed Forces Day flag at the Castle Point Borough Council offices at Kiln Road this morning.

Armed Forces Day takes place tomorrow and there will be a parade followed by a service on Canvey Island. The programme for the day will be is as follows:

10.00am - Mustering at Castle View School car park, Folksville Road, Canvey Island

10.30am - Parade through Canvey Island town centre to the Paddocks Community Centre, Long Road, Canvey Island

11.00am - Service and Speeches at War Memorial outside centre
