On Wednesday 1st February, between 10am and 3pm, Canvey Island Town Council is working with Canvey Community Archive, Essex Record Office, Canvey Library and Environment Agency to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the 1953 Flood.
This important milestone will be remembered with a public plaque unveiling, as well as a commemorative and interactive exhibition both inside and outside of Canvey library. This is a chance to remember and learn about this significant event in Canvey’s History, and it how it has shaped the island’s history.
Inside of the Town Council Offices, there will be a drop in event for residents to meet representatives from Environment Agency and Lead Local Flood Authority who will be providing information about current local flooding issues. This drop in event will also run on Thursday 2nd February between 10am and 3pm.
