I attended a very special event yesterday, the official opening of a brand new teaching and activity block at Cedar Hall School.
The building work for the 'Braithwaite Block', which was named after the very hard working Chair of School Governors, took place over the summer holidays and pupils and staff had already been in the building for a number of weeks.
I came to visit the block whilst it was being built in the six week holidays and it was lovely to come back and see it full of happy pupils and staff. It is clearly a big hit, even with the school's chickens who left their coop next door to try and join us on our tour!
The new block is a £4million Government investment administered by Essex County Council and it replaces a number of temporary classrooms. The new block is entirely carbon neutral and includes solar panels on the roof to cut the school's energy bills.
A massive well done to everyone involved and delivering and funding the project.
