Earlier today, I joined local residents and dignitaries for a service on the Canvey sea wall to mark the 80th Anniversary of the tragic crashing of a B17 Flying Fortress into the Thames off the point where three American airman lost their lives.

The crash is firmly etched into the Island’s history and it was an honour to come together and remember those lost their lives in the service of freedom.
