“I am grateful to the residents of the Appleton Ward in Benfleet who I have come into contact with over the last few weeks while out delivering election material and canvassing in the area. Every home will have now received, at least, one written communication from me, and you will have been provided with an opportunity to understand what I will bring to the role as your local Conservative Councillor, as I stand as a candidate in the Borough Council elections on 4th May. I will be out and about in the ward over the coming days leading up to the election, speaking to residents, listening to their views, ideas, and concerns for the community in which we live. If you don’t see or meet me and you wish to speak to me personally about a specific matter or to question me about my election priorities, then please contact me Tel: 01268 792992; Email: [email protected]. Meanwhile, I remind you of three key principles which form the core of my priorities in representing residents.
Community - my heart is in the local community I have lived in for nearly 30 years, I am currently serving three local charities as a Trustee, a volunteer mentor with young people in two local secondary schools and am actively involved in the local Salvation Army. My experience means I am qualified to help people and deal with matters which are of concern, representing residents and providing help to those who need it, whenever I can.
Commitment - to the things that matter to residents. Holding the Council to account for maintaining efficient and prudent financial management. Ensuring there is focus on improving local leisure amenities, ensuring our refuse services are of a high standard, addressing issues with anti-social behaviour, helping to develop better opportunities for young people and opposing inappropriate development of the greenbelt. I will also be working closely with Essex County Council on keeping our roads and pavements safe and well-maintained.
Communication - I believe that the role of a Councillor is to be open and honest and available to residents at all times. I will be an advocate for our community, supporting and working with residents and community groups in navigating, what can be, the complex landscape of a local authority.”
