A massive well done to all the volunteers who signed up for the various community events organised as part of the King’s Coronation ‘Big Help Out today’ and a special thank you to all those who signed up with our various community organisations to volunteer into the future.
This morning I joined the excellent Castle Point Clean-up Crew at their big community litter pick at Woodside Park. Although the fields were quite tidy, the area around Woodside Lake and the various ditches around football pitches certainly were not. 20 sacks of rubbish were collected in the end!
It was great to see the Union Jack flying high above the busy Castle Point Bowls Club and whilst litter picking in the woods behind the cricket pitch I came across the biggest ant colony I have ever seen devouring a fallen branch. Our local parks and community woodlands are a true asset to our Borough and we all have to play our part to keep them clean and tidy for residents to enjoy.
