Lottery Funding for Good Causes in Castle Point

Good causes in Castle Point have been missing out on National Lottery and People's Postcode funding for years.

Throughout her time in Parliament, Rebecca has tried to ensure that Castle Point gets the funding that it deserves.

Rebecca is therefore encouraging any one looking for a grant for a local project, whether it be anything from a heritage project to a sports project, to visit the websites below to see if you are eligible for any funding!

Rebecca has supported several local charities and initiatives since becoming the local MP:

ACRES WAY

Rebecca is a proud supporter of the work of Acres way, a rehoming and boarding centre for dogs. As a dog parent to her dog Lola, she knows firsthand the joys a dog can bring into the home. She has regularly visited to see the amazing work the centre does.

YELLOW DOOR

Yellow Door, the Canvey Island Youth Project, is a brilliant organisation working with young people between the ages of 11-25. They provide support through a range of services and activities focused on mental health and wellbeing, including counselling, mentoring, help for young people learning to deal with anxiety, arts session, a youth club, a sports club and holiday club. They aim to enable young people to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage in some cases difficult circumstances. In September 2021, their work was recognised through a royal visit by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, who heard about the invaluable work the team to for the young people of Canvey.

DANNY GREEN FUND

Rebecca is a patron of the Danny Green Fund. The tragic death of 11-year-old Danny Green after years of battling with a brain tumour and having to overcome the effect of Posterior Fossa Syndrome, this organisation was created by Danny’s family and loved ones determined to raise awareness for brain tumours and increase funding and research. In memory of Danny, they provide funding and support for other local children in Essex.

Rebecca Harris was Chair of the APPG on Brain Tumours. She campaigned for more funding for brain tumour research and was pleased when the Department of Health and Social Care and Cancer Research UK pledged an additional £45 million into this cause in 2018.
